Trend Palette Perfect

We love the Elizabethan-inspired make-up (and fashion) on the catwalk at Valentino's autumn 2016 couture collection. The pretty, luminous eyeshadow was a standout, especially when teamed with shimmery pink lips. Put brush to palette and create your own version of Shakespeare-worthy beauty.

Road test

This week I try... skin-boosting injections

The lowdown My skin is looking a little dehydrated, so I am with registered nurse and cosmetic injector Natalie Abouchar for her signature Skin Boosters Hydration treatment. Natalie begins by injecting local anaesthetic at two entry points on my face and allowing that to take effect. Next come the big guns: she inserts a cannula containing hyaluronic acid, Restylane Vital to be exact, under my skin and fans out a thin blanket of product into the dermis. This in turn acts to draw moisture and water to the surface of my skin.

Pain factor The local anaesthetic has a slight sting to it and the sensation of the filler "fanning out" under my skin is a little odd. My face is also quite numb for an hour or so afterwards.

Downtime 30 minutes.

Results Three weeks on, my wintry skin is now looking more supple and more hydrated; I'm looking forward to seeing the collagen-boosting effects that should kick in at week eight. Lots of gain for not much pain.

Where to get it Sydney: Privée Clinic, privee.com.au. Cost: $990 for full face. Melbourne: Avenue Advanced Skin Care, avenueadvancedskincare.com.au. Cost: $1080 for full face.

At home Try Obagi Hydrate Luxe Moisture-Rich Cream, $80, obagi-au.com.
